We made it to Dubai. Long flight, but overall good. We take it for granted how life hangs in the balance. When you are moving through the air at 600 mph across the cold dark Atlantic, you start to think about things:).
As I was on the plane, I spent some time reading the first chapter of Acts. It is the moment that Jesus ascends into Heaven. It is the last time people will see the tangible face of Jesus until his return. These are his words to his followers before he departs.
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” – Acts 1:8
The last words of Christ do not tell us to sit in our homes, drive nice cars, vote a certain way, live comfortable lives, and avoid risk. The last words before the Ascension were “be my witness.”
These words are still true today. This trip is about be Jesus’ witness. Taking his name to Chicago, Dubai, and India. Pray that we will have more and more opportunities to bear the name of Jesus. Pray for boldness to speak Jesus to Hindus, Muslims, humanist, and anyone else who may have ears to hear.
